I have a true 302 Boss with the cross boss intake & autolite inline 4-barrel carburetor. I would like to run it on a 3/8 mile dirt track. This is an unlimited class though. Big C.I., aluminum heads, alchohol carbs.,etc..... I'm willing to build this with any new & up to date parts. I DON'T want to hear from anyone telling me how much i'm giving up by trying this or that engine belongs in a show car or any flat out negative comments. I would like to know the pros & cons. How much horsepower can i squeeze out of a 302 Boss with an 875 CFM gas carb? Do they make Boss aluminum heads? Ford lovers, I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!  

 Dont waste a Boss block, that block is only good to 450 hp. It cracks between the cam & crank. Use an SVO block & NA$CAR heads. You can make over 800 hp that way. What air cleaner will you use with that carb? Think about what you are doing. Roger

thank you for the info. i've since been convinced on not running the boss. this engine only knows the dirt track, at least since the mid 1970's, but it will be outclassed today & is illegal in the lower classes. i'm very interested in the block & heads you mentioned. i'm going to look in to that. i found a K&N air filter that fits the custom aluminum set up that i have for it. I ran a small C.I. before & wanted to enjoy the Boss myself & with others. they took a race away from me before so i bored the heck out of a 283 chevy & pulled all the weights off my car, i never missed a beat!!! I still finished in the same spots, but what an excitement running at high RPM's & never lifting off the throttle!
